Mixed Speeds, Best Path

This is an experiment sketch. Given two regions with different progress rates, how can you find the best path? The student sheet has links to some recent science, the general idea of Fermat's Principle, and a story of a dog who can find the best path, too. But surely people are better than dogs and ants at finding the best path?
