The Area Meaning of the Pythagorean Theorem

This applet allows the students to investigate the original meaning of the Pythagorean Theorem: the areas of squares formed on the legs of a right triangle sum to the area of a square formed on the hypotenuse. Moreover, the students will develop the Pythagorean Inequalities, which will help them determine if triangles are acute, obtuse or right triangles.
