Equation of the line in normal form

With the help of activity in screen 11, we have learnt that: We will get a unique line when α and p are given. The equation of this line will be \(x cos \alpha + y sin \alpha = p\) .Where p is the length of the perpendicular on the line from the origin and α is the angle made by this perpendicular with the positive x axis. To get a unique line we need two conditions. If only α is given then we will get an infinite number of lines and same will be the case if only p is given.
