Using Derivatives to Find the Maximum and Minimum of a Function
The maximum and minimum of a function is the highest and lowest point, respectively, that the function reaches.
You can find these points using the derivative. To do this, first, find the derivative of the function, set it equal to zero, and solve.
Since the graph goes flat once it reaches the maximum and/or minimum, it is determined that the slop of the maximum and/or minimum is 0.
