Circumference of a Circle and Pi

This applet illustrates the circumference of a circle by wrapping a string around it.
  1. Drag the blue point to change the diameter of the circle. A circle of diameter 4 units have been done as an example
  2. Measure the circumference.
  3. Calculate the ratio of the circumference to the diameter(enter "=" followed by "circumference/diameter").
  4. Repeat the process for 4 distinct diameter values
  5. Compare the ratio to the pi value from the calculator. How close are your approximations of pi?
