Circumference of a Circle and Pi
This applet illustrates the circumference of a circle by wrapping a string around it.
- Drag the blue point to change the diameter of the circle. A circle of diameter 4 units have been done as an example
- Measure the circumference.
- Calculate the ratio of the circumference to the diameter(enter "=" followed by "circumference/diameter").
- Repeat the process for 4 distinct diameter values
- Compare the ratio to the pi value from the calculator. How close are your approximations of pi?
