The Project Archimedean solids was born in 2023, when I was asked by students, if stars are only physical objects, or if they are related to geometry. Inspiration of this, was the Herrnhuter star seen everywhere at Christmas time. Therefore, I designed a GeoGebra-book about stars, which I called Sternkörper.
While working on this topic, I was motivated by the Platonic solids, polygons and visualisation and projections, which encouraged me to design the book Flächen, Körper , Projektionen - Ideen zur Regeometrisierung, based on Adam/Wyss (1984): Platonische und Archimedische Körper, ihre Sternformen und polaren Gebilde. The subject GEOMETRY is more than underrepresented in German schools and more or less a vehicle to use formulas and algebra instead of the content geometry.
This provided the final spark and led to my work on Archimedean solids in the book Archimedische Körper - Einfach mehr Geometrie wagen.
After that, I gave some lectures and also workshops on different conferences. It is planned to offer these workshops to schools and interested groups.
