Modelling using the sine curve

Sine
Use this applet to examine the curve formed by a capsule on the London Eye. 1) Move the slider on the top right hand side to see the position of the capsule for different times (t). 2) Click 'Show Locus' to show you the full locus of these points. 3) Try to find the equation of the locus in the form . Do this by reading off values from the graph as best you can (there will be some estimation) to determine the values of a, b, c and d. Do not use 'guess and check' methods. 4) Test your values out by typing then into the boxes for a, b, c and d. Then click 'Show ' to see how close you were. 5) Amend your values to get as close a fit as possible. Hint: You can type the word 'pi' into Geogebra and it will use the number pi accurately.
