Explore 1: Translations

  1. Draw a Triangle using “Rigid Polygon.” Make this grey.
  2. Draw a vector that will translate figures down and to the left.
  3. Draw another vector that will translate figures horizontally.
  4. Translate the original triangle using the first vector. Make this green.
  5. Translate the original triangle using the second vector. Make this blue.
  6. Choose someone in class. Bring your file over to them. Show them and ask them to identify and describe to you what you did.

Explore 2: Reflections

  1. Draw a Quadrilateral (4 sides) using “Rigid Polygon.” Make this grey.
  2. Draw a vertical line.
  3. Reflect the figure over the line.
  1. Draw a pentagon (five sides) using “Rigid Polygon.” Make this blue.
  2. Draw a horizontal line.
  3. Reflect the figure over the line.
  1. Draw a third figure using “Rigid Polygon.” Make this red.
  2. Draw a line with a positive slope.
  3. Reflect the figure over the line.
  4. Choose someone else in class. Bring your file over to them. Show them and ask them to identify and describe to you what you did.

Explore 3: Rotations

  1. Draw a pentagon using “Rigid Polygon.” Make this purple.
  2. Draw a point.
  3. Rotate the figure 90 degrees CCW about that point.
  4. Rotate the figure 74 degrees CW about that point.
  5. Choose someone else in class. Bring your file over to them. Show them and ask them to identify and describe to you what you did.
