Sequences

Instructions

In the dynamic activity below, there are five example 'sequences'. The dropdown menu at the top-left will allow you to switch between the different examples. For each sequence, drag the 'n' slider to generate subsequent terms in the sequence (the first 'n' terms are generated). The left-hand side displays the sequence as points of a function in 2D (n,a_n); the right-hand side displays the sequence as points on a number line in 1D (a_n).

Reflection Questions

For each sequence, think about the following questions: 1) How is the sequence being represented as a function - what are the x-values and y-values? 2) How is the sequence being represented on the number line? 3) How are these representations related?
