The Fresnel Equations
These show the reflection and transmission coefficients for the electric field amplitude (solid) and Power (dashed) for oblique incidence from dielectric media with refractive indices, n1 and n2, set using the sliders. Two cases are shown: with the incident E-field polarised either parallel (para) or perpendicular (perp) to the plane of incidence. A check box controls whether the reflection or transmission (or both!) coefficients are shown.
Use the sliders to find the Brewster's angle for light incident from air to glass (n=1.4). Find the angle of total internal reflection for light moving from glass into air.
