Observe Changes in Functions

Author:
A B Cron
Topic:
Functions
This application was prepared to review and examine how the graphs of a well-known function changes depending modify some constants (a,b,c, and d) in an equation. y = a f(b x - c) + d, for example: Let's assume, you know the graph of y = ln(x), How can you construct the graph of ==> y = 2ln(x) ==> y = ln(2x) ==> y = 2 + ln(x) ==> y = ln(x + 2) After a deep exploration, please try to state a generalization for each step you examine in each equation. Check the instruction box to hide the instructions.
GeoGebra Applet
This applet can be used by teachers in a demonstration mode in the classroom or teachers can have students load it on their own computers with a worksheet to be complete for a grade. This applet led to the creation of a more general one in the ABCron Portal called Transformations of Basic Function Families.
