3: Construct an Angle Bisector

Construct an Angle Bisector

Given Construct: A ray bisecting General notes:
  • Draw an arc = use compass.
  • With the same radius = use compass.
  • If lines or curves intersect = use intersect tool to label that point.
Procedure: 1. Open your textbook to page 376. Follow the directions for construction 3. Your point will be named differently (D and E instead of X and Y); that's okay. 2. Finished? use the angle measure tool to confirm that you have bisected the original angle. 3. See if your construction passes "the drag test". Select a point on the original construction (like point A) and drag it to a new location. Does your angle stay bisected? 4. Make sure to color your constructions. Remember:
  • Given info: red
  • Arcs utilized in construction: green
  • The final construction: blue
