4.6 ASA Congruent Triangles

Directions

  1. Create a segment of given length of 6, and label the endpoints A and B
  2. Use the "Angle with Given Size" tool to click on B, then A. Then enter 40 degrees and click "counterclockwise".
  3. This should construct point B'. Construct ray AB'.
  4. Use the "Angle with Given Size" tool to click on A, then B. Then enter 60 degrees and click "clockwise".
  5. This should construct point A'. Construct ray BA'.
  6. Create and label point C, the point of intersection of the two rays.
  7. Measure the remaining angles and sides of triangle ABC.
  8. Now create a new segment of given length of 6.
  9. Repeat steps 2 - 5 except do the 60 degree angle first, then the 40 degree angle.
  10. Create and label point F, the point of intersection of the two rays.
  11. Measure the remaining angles and sides of triangle CDE.
  12. Answer the questions below.

Question 1

Are the two triangles congruent, yes or no?

Question 2

Write a congruency statement for the two triangles.
