Creating Mapping Diagrams with GeoGebra: Worksheets to Books

ICTCM 2019 Creating Mapping Diagrams with GeoGebra: from Worksheets to Books MiniCourse Martin Flashman Professor Emeritus of Mathematics Humboldt State University Visiting Scholar, University of Arizona flashman@humboldt.edu Link to this GeoGebra book: https://www.geogebra.org/m/vajaszjp General Links: https://flashman.neocities.org/Presentations/ICTCM2019.LINKS.html Abstract: Mapping diagrams, frequently coupled with tables, are a valuable alternative to graphs for visualizing functions and equations. Participants will learn how to create GeoGebra worksheets and books for function and equation mapping diagrams. In the process they will become familiar with many features of GeoGebra- including points, functions, composition, lists, arrows (vectors), spreadsheets, and tables. GeoGebra Books will be introduced as a way to collect worksheets and other materials into lessons and larger units. The deconstruction of worksheets will be introduced as a way to continue to learn about GeoGebra through the work of others. Specific topics will include creating diagrams to visualize linear and quadratic functions, solving linear and quadratic equations, and other elementary functions. Prior experience with GeoGebra or with creating web materials will be helpful but not needed. Attendees will be given a link to the presentation with instructions for creating/modifying some of the diagrams along with GeoGebra Files used in the presentation. Prior experience with GeoGebra or with creating web materials will be helpful but not needed.
