A translation is another type of transformation. Translations are a slide or shift of an object, keeping its size and and shape. The figure moves along a vector, and each vertex moves the same distance and are parallel to the vector. In this case, the figure moves along vector HI, which is 4 units to the right and 2 units down. Each vertex in the pre-image moves the same distance of 4 units right and 2 down, resulting in the final image.
