Kiosk Mode on Chromebook
Setting up Kiosk App for Students
You can set up GeoGebra Suite Calculator as a kiosk app for multiple devices managed through Google Workspace for Education. That way, the Chromebook starts Suite Calculator on boot, and students are not allowed to switch to other apps. To do this, please follow these steps:
| 1. | Sign in to the Google Admin Console. |
| 2. | Go to Directory > Organizational units and create an organizational unit e.g. GeoGebra Exam (or any group name you choose). This new OU should be nested under the OU that holds the school’s Chromebooks. |
| 3. | Decide which Chromebooks to use for the exam. Go to Devices > Chrome > Devices, select these Chromebooks, click Move, and move them to the GeoGebra Exam OU. |
| 4. | As a next step, you will add the GeoGebra exam URL as a kiosk app that launches automatically. |
| 5. | In the menu of the Admin console, choose Devices > Chrome > Apps & extensions > Kiosks, then select the GeoGebra Exam OU. |
| 6. | Click on the yellow plus button in the lower right corner and add "Add by URL". Use GeoGebra's Special Exam URLs, like https://www.geogebra.org/calculator?examMode=suite, and click Save. |
| 7. | On the same page, next to Auto-launch app, select the exam URL that you added in step 6, then click Save. |
| 8. | Once these settings are applied, the Chromebooks in the GeoGebra Exam OU start the calculator app automatically when they are turned on (the standard Google sign-in screen does not appear). |
| 9. | After the exam, move the Chromebooks back to their original organizational unit. |
