Amplitude modulation

What is amplitude modulation

Amplitude modulation is the technique in which a wave amplitude (carrier) is modulated by a signal

Application cases

Amplitude modulation is used in
  • radio communications to transfer data (usually voice) from one point to another
  • sound design where pitch notes are modulated with envelope generators or LFO (Low Frequency Oscillator)
