How to Construct a Perpendicular to a Line through a Point not on the Line
- Select a point on the line that is not the closest point to the point off the line (this could be the closest endpoint or a point you add to the line).
- Use the Compass to make a circle with the point you selected on the circle and the Point not on the line as its center.
- Mark the other point of intersection between the circle and the line.
- Construct the Perpendicular Bisector of the segment that you created with the two intersection points of the circle.
