Dilations of triangles and quadrilaterals
Here you will be given a chance to manipulate a dilation to see how changes to the preimage, center of dilation and scale factor each affect the image of the dilation.
First choose the dilation of a triangle box and then click the path of dilation and image of dilation. Try moving the vertices of the preimage (brown triangle) around and see how the image. Why do these changes happen? Hide the image and change the scale factor and/or the center of dilation predict where the image would be. Then click show image to see if you were right and correct yourself if you weren't. Unclick the boxes to the right, unclick the dilating triangle box and click dilating quadrilaterals. Try the same activity with the quadrilateral. Make sure to include changing the center of dilation, the scale factor and the position of the vertices of the preimage. Look at how all of those pieces work together in a dilation to affect the image.
