EXPLORING THE ANGLES IN A QUADRILATERAL
Instructions
Background
You probably already know that a quadrilateral is a shape having four sides. Are there any other attributes or features that all quadrilaterals have in common?
Step 1. Collect Data
Use the MOVE tool
to move any of the corners of the quadrilateral making a new quadrilateral.
Enter the angle size in degrees for each of the interior angles in your new quadrilateral into a Data Table.
Make two more different quadrilaterals and enter their interior angles into a Data Table.
Data Table Angle ABC Angle BCD Angle CDA Angle DAB
Quadrilateral #1
Quadrilateral #2
Quadrilateral #3
Step 2. Analyze the Data
Look at the sum of the interior angles for each quadrilateral. Do you see a pattern?
Conclusions
So, besides having four sides, what is another attribute of all quadrilaterals?
Turn on the View Angle Calculator. Now move the corner points and see if your conclusion seems to be true.
