7b Final Rubber Challenge
Answer
Rubber is also part of food. Gum base (rubber of synthetic or natural origin) is often a part of chewing gum. While there is no rubber in gummi bears they contain gelatine or agra agar which also forms a rubber like network. Here is a recipe to make your own gummi bears.
What you need:
50 ml fruit syrup
50 ml water
6 tee spoons of gelatine powder or the equivalent vegan substitute (agar agar).
1- 2 tablespoons of lemon juice
What do you have to do?
1 Put gelatine into a small pot and add cold water.
2 Let soak for 5-10 minutes
3 Carefully heat soaked gelatine over water bath while stiring.
CAUTION: Do not cook the gleatine!!!
4 Mix fruit syrup and lemon juice in a second pot and heat up.
5 Pour hot fruit syrup into dissolved gelatine
6 Cast mix in ice cube forms and put in refridgerator for minumum 1h.
