1. Florida’s B.E.S.T. Standards (High School Geometry / Precalculus)
According to Florida’s B.E.S.T. Standards for Geometry (Grades 9–12), the relevant benchmarks include:
- MA.912.GR.7.1 — Identify the conic resulting from the cross-section of cones.
- MA.912.GR.7.2 — Derive and create the equation of a circle using key features, including completing the square
- MA.912.GR.7.3 — Graph and solve real-world problems with equations of a circle, interpreting center, radius, domain/range.
- MA.912.GR.7.4 — Derive and create the equation of a parabola using key features such as vertex, focus, and directrix.
- MA.912.GR.7.5 — Graph and solve real-world problems with parabolas; interpret intercepts, focus, directrix, domain/range.
- MA.912.GR.7.6 — Derive and create the equation of an ellipse using center, foci, axes.
- MA.912.GR.7.7 — Graph and solve problems with ellipses, identifying center, foci, axes, vertices, domain/range.
- MA.912.GR.7.8 — Derive the equation of a hyperbola, including key features.
- MA.912.GR.7.9 — Graph and solve problems with hyperbolas, interpreting center, foci, asymptotes, vertices, directrices, domain/range.
