Let your students practice using GeoGebra Exam

We recommend your students practice using GeoGebra Exam prior to the actual exam day (e.g. for homework, during lessons), especially if they are used to using GeoGebra Desktop, whose interface looks slightly different.

Working in full screen mode

Please make sure that your students know how to handle the full screen mode of their browser:  Students should be familiar with the pop-up dialog about entering the full screen mode in order to avoid them accidentally selecting the option to leave the full screen mode instead of starting the Exam. Note: Please note that this dialog will automatically disappear if it is ignored and might vary for different browsers. We also recommend to discuss different options to leave the full screen mode (with regard to the different browsers students might use) in order to raise awareness of actions which will trigger the alert in GeoGebra Exam. Note: This might vary for different browsers. Please make sure that the Download Bar is closed before starting GeoGebra Exam.

Agree on 'emergency protocols' with your students

Come up with 'emergency protocols' in case some mishap occurs during an exam. For example, students should tell the teacher immediately if the visual alert was triggered accidentally (e.g. student accidentally left the full screen mode) or if their computer creates any trouble that interferes with the exam.

Let all students start GeoGebra Exam at the same time

We recommend all your students start GeoGebra Exam at the same time and end it at the end of the exam. In this way, you may...
  • do the customization together, making sure that all students are working with the same Exam settings (e.g. no CAS allowed).
  • make sure that no one can use their computer for unauthorized actions (e.g. use the Internet or other software) prior to starting Exam.

Hand out exam papers after starting Exam

We also recommend to hand out the exam papers after starting GeoGebra Exam on all computers, making sure that...
  • all students can start working on the assignments immediately after receiving the instructions.
  • all students have the same amount of time available for working on the exam.
  • students cannot consult unauthorized software or the Internet after they have seen the assignments.

Access the Exam Log

Please note that the students' Exam Logs cannot be saved automatically after an exam. However, the Exam Log is displayed automatically on screen after selecting  Exit Exam in the  File menu and confirming this action, allowing teachers to do a quick check of the Logs on the students' computers. If you would like to keep the Exam Logs for your teaching records, you might want to ask your students to take a screenshot of the Exam Log after finishing the exam and send it to you via email or provide it to you in another way (e.g. USB stick).
