It has offered its music program for more than 80 years and was one of the first to offer a doctoral degree in music performance. Bard College of Conservatory Music Bard prides itself on offering students more performance opportunities than other comparable schools. A good example of this is that each year up to three winners of Bard's concerto competition perform as soloists with the American Symphony Orchestra. All conservatory undergraduates pursue a five-year program with double degrees, a bachelor of music degree and a bachelor of arts degree in another field. This helps ensure that musicians have other options and choices for their career paths. Elmhurst College Elmhurst is well known for its placement of interns in the music industry. With its own recording studio, students at Elmhurst get to experience recording, mixing, and producing their own music. Any student who applies to Elmhurst must audition. For financial aid purposes, it is recommended that you apply before signing up for an audition. All students are considered for scholarships based on their auditions. Be sure to look into whether your school offers intern placement or job placement after graduation to help you get your foot in the door. A good way to judge a music college is to look at its alumni. What are they doing now? If most are working in music and some are helping recent graduates find jobs, you have found a great school.
