Voluem of Pyramid ( Method I )
Pyramid
A pyramid is a polyhedron formed by connecting a polygonal base and a point called the vertex (apex). Each base edge and apex form a triangle.
A Regular Pyramid
A regular pyramid is a pyramid whose base is a regular polygon and whose lateral edges are all equal in length. A pyramid is named by its base:
eg, Triangular pyramid , Square pyramid, Hexagonal pyramid
Square Based Pyramid
A square based pyramid has a square on its base and four congruent triangle on each lateral face.
Volume of Pyramid= 1/3 Base area x Height
Let us take a cube of length a units . Also take center O of the cube. This center can be obtained by intersection of its diagonals.
In this intersection, there exist six pyramids whose vertex is at O, height is a/2 units and base is the face of cube.
Then,
6 x Volume of Pyramid = Volume of Cube
Volume of Pyramid = (Volume of Cube)
                                     = (Base Area x Height)
                                     = (Base area x a )
                                     = (Base Area x )
                                     = ( Base Area x Height of pyramid )
