To evaluate 261 x 3, note how (in the pic) we decomposed 261 into "200 + 60 + 1", and then filled in the areas and then added these areas.
Decompose the 3-digit number being multiplied into hundreds, tens, and ones. Then find the area of each rectangle and add them!
