GeoGebra

Partitioning of line segment exploration 2.

Author:
Ken Garrabrant
Topic:
Line Segment
Objective: I will be able to explain how the ratio changes the positioning of Point C within Line Segment AB.
GeoGebra Applet
1. Set the sliders so the ratio reads 1:1. Explain where Point C is on the AB. 2. Set the sliders so the ratio reads 3:3. Explain why Point C didn't move. 3. Drag Point A around the screen. Explain what happens to Point C as AB shrinks or stretches. 4. Explain where Point C will land when the ratio is set to m:n such that m=n 5. Set the sliders so the ratio reads 2:1. Explain where Point C is on AB. 6. What will happen if the ratio is set to 1:2? 7. Set the sliders to your own ratio (not given above). Explain how to estimate where Point C be on AB? 8. How does the ratio m:n indicate how many equally spaced parts can be found on the given line segment AB?
