Congruent Chords and the Center of a Circle

by Sofia Arcoy

Observe the measure of Chords ED and BC and the measure of segments FA and AG.

In Circle A, Chords ED and BC are congruent (both having a measure of 5.88 units). Furthermore, they are also equidistant from the center, as shown by segments FA and AG. Thus, if two chords are congruent, then they have equal distances from the center and vice versa.
