MIC 4/4/2022 GeoGebra: Why I Use It. Should You?
Abstract: As self-described, GeoGebra is technology for teaching and learning math offering “free digital tools for class activities, graphing, geometry, collaborative whiteboard and more.”
It offers “over 1 million free activities, simulations, exercises, lessons, and games for math & science!” For example, https://www.geogebra.org/m/vcb8wkku links to the GeoGebra version of the Illustrative Math Curriculum.
There are many available competing choices for math technology, but Professor Flashman has chosen GeoGebra for his work on visualization because of its combination of many powerful and useful features.
In this presentation Professor Flashman will describe many of the features of GeoGebra and the criteria he uses to assess technology. Attendees will be able to use GeoGebra during the session through a GeoGebra Class (https://flashman.tiny.us/CLASSMIC2022) based on a GeoGebra Book (https://flashman.tiny.us/MIC2022) incorporating many of the features available online while also demonstrating the stand alone computer application that can be a little easier for individual use.
No prior experience will be needed.
It is recommended that attendees set up a free GeoGebra online account at GeoGebra.org by following the instructions for signing in so they can save any examples they find useful for future use.
