Explore the geometric properties of a rectangle

    Summarize the properties of a rectangle before you start your actual construction.  Hint: If you are not familiar with the construction steps necessary for a rectangle construction, you might want to explore the applet below. Just use the buttons of the Navigation Bar in order to replay the construction steps.

    Construct a rectangle that passes the Drag Test by following the construction steps provided below.

    1.Toolbar ImageCreate segment AB.5.Toolbar ImageCreate a perpendicular line to segment AB through point A.
    2.Toolbar ImageCreate a perpendicular line to segment AB through point B.6.Toolbar ImageConstruct intersection point D.
    3.Toolbar ImageCreate a new point C on the perpendicular line.7.Toolbar ImageCreate the polygon ABCD. Hint: To close the polygon click on the first vertex again.
    4.Toolbar ImageConstruct a parallel line to segment AB through point C.8.Toolbar ImageApply the Drag Test to check if the construction is correct.
    Hint: You might want to save your construction using the File menu.
