Problem on fractions

A specified fraction of men in a village are married to a specified fraction of women. Every married male is married to one female and no one is married to anyone living outside the village. What portion of the population as a whole is married? Note: when you open this activity, it takes a moment until the applet displays the fractions in their ordinary form (rather than as decimals).
Use the sliders to control the numerators and the denominators of the two given fractions. The problem formulation changes accordingly, giving the fractions reduced to their simplest terms.
