Introduction to Trigonometric Functions

This is an introduction to the main trigonometric functions of sine, cosine, and tangent. Sine, cosine, and tangent are commonly abbreviated as 'sin', 'cos', and 'tan'. The input of a trigonometric function is an angle measure (labeled as θ below).
Move the right angle vertex and the slider to change the size and shape of the triangle. Observe what happens to the values.

How do the trig functions relate to the ratios of the sides?

SOHCAHTOA

SOHCAHTOA is a mnemonic device used in Trigonometry to help us remember the functions. What does it stand for? Hint: How does it relate to the above ratios?

Make note of SOHCAHTOA for future reference.
