2. Translations

Constructing a Translation

Use the written directions or the silent film to help you make your own construction.

Directions

1. Click on the Polygon tool to create any Polygon. Hint: To close the Polygon, connect it to your first point. 2. Select the Translate by Vector tool.
  • Click on the shaded region of your polygon.
  • Click anywhere on the workspace to place the "initial point" of your vector.
  • Move your mouse & click anywhere on the workspace again to place the "terminal point" of your vector.
3. Use the segment tool to connect the points on our pre-image to the corresponding points on our image. Hint: Connect A to A', B to B',... etc. 4. Use the Distance or Length tool to find the distance between the points on our pre-image to the points on our image.
