Fly on Fanblade

Imagine a bug sitting on the end of a fan blade where the blade is 6 ft. What are some ways we can track the movement of the bug? What is vertical height of the bug (above the horizontal) at... a) 3 o'clock b) 12 o'clock c) 9 o'clock d) 6 o'clock What about the horizontal distance?
How is the height changing as the angle measure increases? For each successive equal change of angle measure from the 9 o'clock position to the 3 o'clock position how do the corresponding changes in horizontal distance change? Vertical distance? Think about the relationship you investigated between the vertical height and angle measure and horizontal distance and angle measure. What do you think this graph of these relationships will look like? (draw in applet by dragging point A)

Vertical Distance v. Angle Measure

Horizontal Distance v. Angle Measure
