Exeter Math 2 Problem 1

Instructions for Problem 1

1. a) You have already finished part a. b) Click on "Show P" and then "Show PA and PF". Notice that are right triangles. What theorem would you have to use to find the lengths of PA and PF? Use this theorem to compute the length. How does this length compare to the length you found in part (a)? c) Click on "Show Pieces". Carefully move around the pieces to construct a square of the length you found in part (a). If you accidentally change the shape of a triangle or quadrilateral, you can reset the picture. HINT 1: You will not have to rotate or flip any of the shapes to create your new square. HINT 2: Find all "lengths" (or segments whose length) which are equal the length you found in part (a).
