More practice on Finding Isometries (intuitive approach)

In previous activities (Rigid transformations: Can you find one?), you played with isometries that were created for you. In this activity, you will use GeoGebra tools to generate your own isometries. When defining a rotation, type in "angle" for the angle of rotation and then use the slider provided to change the angle.

Your task

Identify transformations that map the original onto each of the given images 1-4. Be as specific as you can: * For translations, identify the vector * For rotations, identify the angle and center. * For reflections, identify the reflection line. * For glide reflections, identify the reflection line and vector.

Final Check

Review your answers and answer for yourself:

  • Do I think I found the simplest isometry in all cases above?
  • If there is a glide reflection, is my vector parallel to the line?
Confirm that you did the final check and these are your best answers.
