Segment Basics

Construct a copy of segment AB

Real world

How could you accomplish this task in a real world situation where you have no ruler, tape measure, etc?

On a coordinate plane

Imagine your friend asked for your help with their math homework. They were given a graph with segment AB. The coordinates were: A(-4,5), B(-4,8). Your friend had to create a congruent segment and they created segment CD with C(2,-3), D(2,0). Did they accomplish their goal correctly?

Segment Addition

What is the measure of AB

If segment AB is 37 units long, what is the measure of BC

Use the following information to write an equation in terms of x. Then solve the equation, and find RS and ST. RS=2x+10, ST=x−4, RT=21

Real World

You're going on vacation with a friend that moved away. The goal is to see the Indy 500 at the Indianapolis Speedway. They live in St. Louis, MO (about 860 miles from you). They tell you that the Speedway is about 220 miles from them. If you drive to meet them at a hotel right next to the racetrack, how far are you driving? If your average speed is 65mph how long does the drive take you.
