Dilation Practice

Trying out Dilations

1. Using the line segment tool, create a triangle in the positive quadrant (Q1). Mark each vertice (using the text tool) as H, I, J. Record the co-ordinates (X axis first!). Now, dilate with a scale factor of 3. Re-draw your triangle, and re-label your co-ordinates as H', I'. J'. Record your new co-ordinates. Repeat the same process, but now try with a quadrilateral. Scale factor of 2. 2. Try the above, but with a LARGE triangle. This time, we are going to decrease with a scale factor of 0.5. Record your new coordinates, and your new triangle.
