Trig Transformations - Four Investigations (in Degrees)
This investigation allows students to manipulate four variables in the general sine function and observe the effects on the graph. (This investigation does not allow the graph to be subjected to changes in two variables at once. 1. Before beginning, make some predictions; what do you think will happen as a, b, c and d vary ? 2. What effect do a, b, c and d have on the shape of the graph? (Consider negative values as well.) 3. Did the changes that you observed match your predictions? 4. Can you explain why these changes in the shape of the graph occur?
