Solving Proportions

Instructions:
  1. Write a ratio comparing the width to the height of the photo.
  2. Write a ratio comparing the width to the height of this photo if is enlarged to have a width of 6 units. Use "h" to represent the height of the enlarged photo in your ratio.
  3. Write a proportion by setting the two ratios = to each other. You should write 2 : 4 = 6 : h.
  4. Solve your proportion to find the value of h.
  5. Check your answer by dragging the slider until the width of the enlarged photo is 6 units.
  6. Use this process to predict the height of the enlarged photo when the width is 4 units.
  7. Use this process to predict the height of the enlarged photo when the width is 7 units.
