Bungee Jumping Force Analysis

Instructions

This simulation plots the mechanical energy of a bungee jumper and graphs the acceleration, velocity, and position of the jumper. The properties of the bungee cord and the mass of jumper are adjustable. Click include damping to simulate the bungee jumping lab done in class. Click the play icon in the bottom left corner to begin the jump. Click again to pause. If you want to jump again, click on the "Reset" button. Observe the acceleration graph while the jumper is falling and eventually comes to a stop. Click reset but do not clear the graph. Click the play icon and watch the black dot on the acceleration graph. Pause the simulation when the black dot is at the point the bungee jumper experiences the greatest acceleration. Calculate the force on the jumper at the point of greatest acceleration. Include a screen shot of the simulation showing all the data you used to complete the calculation.
