Laws of exponents

In previous activities we learned about exponents and how to solve them. We do this by simplifying the expression, multiplying the exponents and following the rules of operations. In this lesson we will learn how to further simplify and expression before solving it through multiplication of exponents and raising exponents to a power.
As we can see when multiplying exponents with the same base we can add the exponents in order to make it easier to read as they mean the same thing. this is summed up perfectly in the following rule. A power multiplied by another power with the same base is equal to the base raised to the power of the sum of the exponents.

f(x)

g(x)

h(x)

Continuing on we will now learn how to dived an exponent by another exponent with the same base
As we can see when we divide with exponents with the same bases we end up subtracting the exponents as summarized by the following rule. A power divided by another power with the same base is equal to the base raised to the power of the difference of the exponents.

c(x)

v(x)

b(x)
