1 Unit 6 Inscribed Angles and Intercepted Arcs

Drag the blue points of the sketch around to discover the relationship between the measure of inscribed angles and their intercepted arcs. Pay attention to the way the intercepted arc EC changes when you change the measure of the inscribed angle. Answer the questions below the sketch as you go.
1. Name the inscribed angle. 2. Name the intercepted arc. 3. Change the the measure of the inscribed angle 2 times and record both the measure of the inscribed angle and its intercepted arc. 4. Compare the recordings you just made in question #3 above. What is the relationship of the inscribed angle to the intercepted arc? Write an equation. 5. What is the relationship of the intercepted arc to the inscribed angle? Write an equation. 6. If you were given an inscribed angle of 19.5 degrees, what would you predict the intercepted arc to measure? 7. If you were given an intercepted arc of 142 degrees, what would you predict the inscribed angle to measure?
