Rotation

In this applet you will experiment with rotations. Point R will be the center of rotation. The slider lets you specify the angle of rotation. 1. Move the slider to see how the angle of rotation changes the image. Set the rotation angle at about 30 degrees and move the point R to see how this affects the rotation. Describe how the position of R is related to the object and the image. 2. Click on the button to show Target 1. Move R to where you think the center of rotation should be. Think about the angle of rotation that would orient the image to fit over the target. 3. Now move the slider to your estimate of the angle of rotation from step 2. If the image is not over the target, move R to match the target. When you have matched the target, click on R1 to see if you center matches the center of the target image. 4. Repeat steps 2 & 3 with Target 2.
