Linear Inequalities in Two Variables

Scatter Plot example for Backpack Weight vs. Body Weight Linear Inequalities in Two Variables lesson Input your class data in the spreadsheet to the right of the graph (using Columns A & B).
Identify whether the points in your scatter plot represent compliance with doctors' recommendations (<=20% of body weight) or a conflict with doctors' recommendations (>20% of body weight). Extension: What maximum weight could your backpack have (in whole number of pounds) and still remain compliant with doctors' recommendations? Try having students accumulate enough "ballast" (additional junk) to barely break doctors' recommendations and see how uncomfortable this critical value for backpack weight makes them.
