Understanding a basic electric motor

This GeoGebra demo illustrates how a simple electric motor works, showing an edge view of the rotating coil between the magnetic poles. Check the box “Magnet model” to display the magnetic field of the rotating coil as an equivalent magnet. Check the box “Magnetic moment” to visualize the magnetic moment vector of the coil. Check the box “Run” to start the simulation. The moving red dots along the coil represent the current in the wire. A large red “X” indicates current directed into the screen, while a large red dot indicates current directed out of the screen.
