Degenerate Vertex

The yellow vertex is degenerate because it lies on more than 3 planes in R^3. If we perturb the hyperplane x+y+z=1 slightly (by increasing a), this breaks into two non-degenerate vertices. The simplex method cannot cycle at non-degenerate vertices.
