Exploring Triangle Congruency Activity
Directions:
For each triangle type, complete the following steps:
- Describe what is congruent. Identify exactly which corresponding sides and/or angles are given as congruent. Be specific.
- Experiment with the triangles. Move the red dots to create different triangles. Try changing the shape of the original triangle, too.
- Determine whether the information guarantees congruence. Can you create a triangle that is NOT congruent to the original triangle using the same given information?
- Record your results. Use the color of the triangle to help you:
- Green: The triangles are congruent.
- Orange: The triangles are not congruent.
- Write a conclusion. Decide whether the given information is enough to guarantee that the two triangles will always be congruent. Explain your reasoning.
