Continuous Random Variable

Definition of Continuous Random Variable

We already defined random variables, and discrete random variables. But a random variable can also be continuous: A continuous random variable X can take any value within some interval on the number line. For example, X could be:
  • the heights of men, which lie in the interval 50 cm < X < 250 cm
  • the volume of water in a tank, which could lie in the interval 0 m3< X < 100 m3

Excercise: Classify each random variable as continuous or discrete
