A Look at Geometric Probability

Explain in words what these images could represent. (Hint: Dartboard or Target) Notice how the diagram changes when the values in the sliders changes. With one of your diagrams, determine the probability of landing in the red rectangle, of landing in the purple region. Be sure to include your dimensions. In this particular example, the odds of winning is the ratio of the probability of landing in the red to the probability of landing in the purple. What are the odds? If your purple rectangle is 20 by 15 and your red rectangle is 8 by 5, how will doubling the height of your target change your odds of winning? How will doubling the height AND the width change your odds?
Bonus: 1) Create a set of nested rectangles where the probability of winning is 25%. 2) Generalize finding the probability for any set of nested rectangles.
